Canoeing

Imagine spending your whole summer on the water, teaching canoeing and surrounded by the beautiful Canadian wilderness. Not only is canoeing a fun way to explore the outdoors, but it also teaches campers valuable teamwork and coordination skills as they work together to paddle and navigate.

In addition to the physical benefits, canoeing also provides campers with a sense of adventure and connection to the outdoors. Exploring the lake can be an exciting experience for yourself and campers but can make you foster an appreciation for nature's beauty.

Swimming

As a swim instructor, your days will be spent by the lake or the pool helping campers of all levels build confidence and skills in the water. This can range from basic lessons for beginners to helping experienced swimmers refine their technique and explore different strokes.

To teach swimming at camp, you will need to complete a recognized swimming qualification that is valid in Canada. But don’t worry, we will help you navigate this process and connect you with the training you need for your role!

Climbing / High Ropes

Climbing walls and high ropes courses offer a unique blend of physical and mental challenges. You will teach campers climbing techniques, assist them in navigating tricky obstacles, and help them conquer their fears as they tackle courses. The best part? You get to be their instructor, encouraging them every step (or climb) of the way!

This activity promotes teamwork, problem-solving, and personal growth. Campers will learn to trust themselves and their teammates as they face and overcome their fears. If you love horses and have experience riding or caring for them, the role of a horse riding instructor is perfect for you. You’ll organize riding lessons where campers learn the basics of riding, such as mounting, steering, and controlling the horse's speed. Campers can also learn about horse grooming, feeding, and basic horse care.

Horse riding activities allow campers to build a connection to nature and animals, as they bond with horses and explore trails or riding arenas.

Teaching dance at summer camp is an amazing way to practice, gain confidence and build valuable experience especially if you’re an aspiring dance instructor!

As a dance instructor at camp, you will organize classes or workshops where campers learn choreography and practice their moves. You’ll teach campers various dance styles, such as hip-hop, ballet, or jazz, which can help them develop coordination, flexibility, and rhythm. Classes will be inclusive and cater to campers of all skill levels, providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment for them to explore their passion for dance.

Photography / Videography

Being a photography or videography instructor at camp isn't just about teaching – it's a chance to level up your skills alongside your campers!

The role of a photographer or videographer is one of the most fun, active and involved roles at camp. You’ll capture photos or videos of camp life to send to parents back home and teach campers the basics of photography, such as composition, lighting, and perspective.

You will also be required to show that you’re able to use digital editing software such as Photoshop for this role.
